Returning to archery
It’s great that you’re thinking of coming back!
If you took part in archery in the past (i.e. did a beginners’ course and/or were a member of a club) there is no need to do another beginners’ course. This procedure applies to:
- Archers who were previously members of a Target Archery club, but have been out of the sport for more than 1 year.
- Archers who have done a formal beginners’ course, but did not join a club.
- Archers coming to us from other branches of the archery family (e.g. Field Archery).
- People who have significant experience of archery, but no formal training (by negotiation).
The club’s procedure for returning archers is as follows:
- Fill in the form below to start the process.
- You will be required to do a session supervised by one of our coaches. (This is a standard requirement for incoming archers of any standard).
- The secretary will liaise with the coaches to find a mutually acceptable date & time for this session.
- This session will normally take 1-2 hours and there is a £10 charge for this, payable to the coach.
- At the end of the session the coach will, if necessary, agree a ‘work plan’ with you, detailing what they consider necessary to bring you up to the required standard for a full shooting member.
- If this is acceptable you will now join the club in the normal way & work through the plan with support from the coach as necessary.
Equipment:
If you do not have suitable equipment (you have none, or your existing kit is not suitable for whatever reason) the club will hire you kit from our stock of novices’ equipment in the normal way.
