This years Championship was decided over a handicap adjusted WA900, with shorter variations for our Junior competitors. The forecast was not good and it took a pitch inspection and much discussion before we decided to proceed due mainly to very strong winds, Then as soon as the we had the targets up it rained. The rain passed but the wind kept playing it’s part. Dave, Beulah and Jay were however peppering the 10s and X’s on their respective targets, but it was some excellent longbow shooting that was to take the trophy.

Handicap adjusted result –

Gold – Malcolm Crisp (LG) 1499, Silver – Beulah Hurst (JL Rec) 1459 and Bronze – Kevin Hurst 1437.

Well done to our medalists and all who braved the conditions. 

2018 Club Championship Photos

On Sunday the 2018 Worcestershire County field archery championship was held at Sunset Archers course just outside of Kidderminster.  The course is set in beautiful woodland and features targets set from 10 to 70 yards with significant gradient changes.  The primary medals for each group were awarded on target scores and the other medals and Team trophy were handicap adjusted.

Malvern Archers were well represented and came away with many of the key medals.  Dave Martel won the Gents Compound and Aaron Relf tied for 2nd place in this very close category.  Pete Webb won the Gents Recurve and Tammy Milsom balanced their medal cabinet by taking the Ladies Recurve gold. Laura Smith in her first field competition took the Ladies Recurve silver medal. Together Tammy, Aaron and Laura claimed the Team trophy for Malvern Archers with their handicap adjusted scores being  better than those of teams from Evesham and Wyre Forest.

Ok juniors we’ve signed up for another season in the Perris Archery Indoor Junior League.  Please have a look in the folder before you start shooting. 6 arrows for sighters then 5 ends of 6 arrows ( Half a Portsmouth round) put your score back in the folder and I’ll collect the best scores at the end of the month .
